Fun at the zoo

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

On Sunday Evan, Jen and I went to the Brookfield Zoo with Krista. It was a beautiful day out and we were able to get away and Vickey and Teagen stayed home with the babies for the morning. Evan loves the zoo and loves the animals, so it was a fun time for him and us to be able to spend some quality time with him. Krista was nice enough to meet us there and we had a nice time catching up with her too. Evan loved the bears and giraffes. He also spent some time with the goats, brushing their fur. He had a blast on the carousel before we left – he road on the anteater :).

Check out the pictures from the zoo.

Day Two

Evan's first time holding the babies Today we had a number of visitors – including Evan who got to meet both of his siblings today (he only met Cora yesterday due to Will being a bit cold and needing some heat lamp time). Evan thought the twins were cute but really enjoyed all the exiting things in the hospital room – except for Amy in bed.

We had constant activity in the room between the doctors, nurses, and visitors – it was a busy day. Both twins did a great job meeting everyone and were pretty much sleepy all day.

Check out the photos from the day!

Evan’s a Big Brother

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan became a big brother yesterday and has the shirt to prove it. Denise (his babysitter) brought him to the hospital to visit us and to meet the babies in the afternoon. He was disturbed with Mama in the hospital bed, and overwhelmed with all the buttons he could press, but he did a pretty good job his first day as a big brother. He does not look thrilled in the picture for a few reasons 😉 but mostly because he was exhausted. Even though Grandma Z is here to help out with everything – there has been a lot of change over the past few weeks in the Muller-Zelazny household and Evan has been a bit worn out. Luckily he will at least not have Mama on bedrest very soon so she can once again play with him!

On the second day, Evan held both his brother (in the picture) and his sister. He was very gentle and careful and even smiled a few times. He did however enjoy drinking water from a styrofoam cup from the hospital and a straw more than anything else. I think he will do a great job with the twins in the years to come as he loves kids and loves babies!

Busy weekend

We are so lucky to have the Rominski family in our lives! This weekend Evan spent a lot of time with Denise and Phillip, which gives us a little break on our end. On Saturday Evan spent the day at the pond store with the Rominski’s picking out some new things for their ponds. Jen and I ran a few errands and just relaxed a little. On Sunday Evan and mommy went to pick up some new coy fish for the Rominski ponds, Evan had a blast and I think Jen enjoyed herself too. I relaxed at home. There is a lot going on at home with baby stuff preparation and we appreciate everything Denise and Phillip are doing to keep Evan’s life a little normal.

Big Grandpa

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

So Evan has not decided exactly what he is going to call my parents vs. Jen’s parents. So in the week between jen’s parent visit and my dad visited I referred to my father as Big Grandpa – he is definitely a little taller than Jen’s father and I thought that would be something that Evan would recognize as a distinguishing factor. I did not think it would necessarily stick, but it did. While my father was here, Evan referred to him several times as Big Grandpa and I had to smile each time.
Thank you dad for visiting and we look forward to seeing you again soon, once the two little ones arrive.

Family Mullers Pre-Birth

Week 35

A big thank you to my dad for coming out last week and helping out. It was great to see him and he was a big help…including letting us know that our hot water heater was leaking saturday morning (new one went in later that day). About a minute after dropping him off at Ohare, Evan said, I miss “big grandpa”.

Another week down and nothing new to report. I do not go to the doctor until Friday of this week, so we have a few days to wait for the latest update. But I did not think rushing to the doctor this week was necessary since she is going to say the same thing: babies are still there, I feel them move all the time, I have not felt any contractions, so things remain consistent. If anything changes, of course, we will let every one know.

Week 32

First a big thank you to Vickey and Phil for visiting this week: spending time with Evan, working on the basement, doing laundry, and just helping like crazy.

Our appointment yesterday was longer than expected but good. We went in and they decided that yesterday was the first day they would start to monitor the heart rates a little more closely with an NST (non-stress test). So I sat hooked up to monitors for about 15 minutes and then saw the doctor. The heart rates moved all over, but very normal. They funny part…for several weeks I have been saying I really do not feel any contractions and the first thing my doctor said was you had no contractions when you were sitting there – I said see, I told you. But anyway…

My weight was good – I have gained about 35 pounds and my blood pressure was fine once I laid down for a little while. It was 130 over something and then once I laid down for a few minutes it dropped to 120/70. So no worries. Our doctor is happy and I go back on monday for another check.

Where Did Those Names Come From?

Posted by: jzelazny | 1 Comment

A number of people have been asking about the names we chose for the twins so here is the story behind them:

Since my (Jen) preferred names got shot down (Josh and Reva, Brandon and Brenda, Washington, Lyndon, etc) we had to get serious about acceptable names. As with Evan – I wanted each baby to take some sort of family name.

William Fredrick
I personally always loved this name. I love the short name “Will” and how William can sign his name “Wm”. This is not a direct family name, but there are several family members with this name on both sides. Frederick is Amy’s father’s name and so we wanted that to be part of the name. (I personally like to pronounce it Friedrich).

Cora Louise
Amy and I really liked Cora and if Evan ended up a girl instead of a boy – it made the top three names (Olivia, Cora, Grace). After trying name combinations together, I decided it would be really nice to give her my paternal grandmother’s name Louise. Since Cora Louise sounded better than Oliva Louise – we chose Cora. (Will and Grace would have been too weird)

So there you go…

Evan’s Trip to Florida

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

dsc04075A few weeks ago we went to Florida on a rather last minute decision. While we were there Evan enjoyed going to Dinosaur World, visiting with family, and going “on safari” with Papa (aka – going on a ride to look at horses and pigs in a golf cart). Much thanks for the hospitality and we hope Gaga is feeling better!
