Week 25 Appointment

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Babies are good – heart rates are within normal range and my glucose test results came back normal.  I was worried since I am carrying two babies this time and everything is so different.  Things seem to be going well although I do feel a lot of pressure – sometimes when the girl moves I think – please do not move so much – she feels so low – it makes me nervous.

Dr. Weber has suggested that I go part-time at work.  Carrying twins can put a lot more pressure on the body (cervix) and it can actually start to soften earlier than it would when carrying a singleton.  So starting next week I will be going into school three days and home two days.  Hopefully keeping me working a little longer – hopefully at least until 36 weeks.  I will also be going to the doctor every two weeks now – so my next appointment is 3/18.

Random Evan Photos

Here are some random images from my iPhone taken over the last month or so.

The images are from the recent trip to NJ (including a Harley ride in the airport), as well as Evan’s first snowman we made together in the front yard.

Evan’s 3rd Birthday Party

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan's cakeOn December 5th, Evan had his first “kid” birthday party. We rented one of the gyms in our local park district for an hour and then had cake, pizza, and opened presents. Aunt Julie and Grandma Z flew in for the event and we had lots of friends attend to make it a great party – even with the super smelly, un-serve-able vegetables (see Amy – that is what you get for trying to be healthy!)

Evan enjoyed running around chasing his friends, playing with the toys, and then eating cake and pizza. A big thanks to Aunt Julie, Grandma, Doug, Kelly, and Lori Ann for all the help.

Please note – Evan took some of the photos in the photo collection so if they are strange – you can talk to him!

Grandma Z and Aunt Julie’s Visit

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan posingBoth Aunt Julie and Grandma Z flew in for Evan’s birthday party. Evan enjoyed spending time with both of them and even did some fun non-birthday party stuff like decorating a gingerbread house. Evan let Aunt Julie sleep in his car bed and he had a slumber party with Grandma. He did a good job not kicking and moving all around like he normally does so I was happy about that. The last night Grandma Z was in town, we put Evan back in his own bed and after an hour or so of sleeping, he woke up crying and so Grandma rocked him to sleep on her lap and then we let him sleep one more night with her.

When we dropped Grandma off at the airport, Evan asked if he could go with her back to Florida and that was pretty cute, but instead he got to stay here in the Chicagoland area with us. All in all, it was a good trip. Thanks for traveling – it means a lot!

Cousin Hunter’s Birthday Party

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan and HunterLast weekend we flew out to DC to spend the weekend with my family (parents, sister, grandparents) at my sister’s house in DC. With some minor airport issues – Amy and Evan were on one flight and I was on another. Even though E can be challenging on flights (he is so tall he is very cramped in his car seat on the plane) – he did a great job and we were very proud of him.

Just before the party – we noticed one of the local firehouses was having an open house so we took Evan over to meet the fire fighters and to see the huge trucks. He loved it!

Evan enjoyed his weekend with family and looks forward to playing with Hunter in the future.

First Extended Stay Without Parents

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Growing up – I always enjoyed the week or two my sister and I spent with my grandparents and decided a long time ago that when I had kids – they would do the same thing. This year after our family reunion, Amy and I drove back to Chicago on Sunday and Evan stayed with his grandparents (and great grandparents) until the next Friday. They did all kinds of fun things, got to spend some one on one time with Aunt Julie, Uncle Dan, and Hunter, as well as enjoyed the “forest” where my parents live. Evan asked about us only twice and after my mother said “she is in Palatine” he was fine and ready to move onto the next thing.

A big thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Z, as well to Gaga and Papa for spending the week with him!

Evans’ Family Reunion 2009

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan and Aunt Julie At the end of July we drove to New York for our annual Evans’ family reunion (Evan is named after this family name). Evan enjoyed playing with his cousins and being with his great grandparents and grandparents. We had a smaller than usual turn out at the reunion (around 40) – but it was still great seeing the people who made it and to see Evan play with and get to know his cousins. There are new photos available of the trip to New York – including some that were taken during his stay with Grandma and Grandpa Z after the reunion.

Mama Gone…

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

This morning Evan woke up earlier than usual and his new thing in the morning is pull the blinds to the side so he can see outside. This morning when he looked outside, he saw Amy leaving and started crying and saying “Mama gone…Mama gone”. I got up as soon as I heard this sad cry, called Amy, and had her talk to Evan on the phone so he knew she was not “really” gone. It was pretty darn cute.

Evan’s Christmas Photos

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan opening gifts We had a busy Christmas vacation. We flew into Philadelphia on Christmas Eve, spent Christmas with Amy’s parents and family, went to see Amy’s aunt and her kids, then went down to Virginia to see my sister and her family as well as my cousin Robert. We then drove back up to Philadelphia and flew home. Thanks to all our family members for making our trip a good one! You can check out the new photos in the photos section.
