“This is So Different” – Evan

Evan has been enjoying his time with his Grandma and Grandpa Z in New York. As Evan has told my parents multiple times “It is so different here”. I assume he means lack of neighbors, forest environment, no siblings, etc… He has been enjoying all the fun “different” things he has been doing like sleeping on the top bunk, helping Grandpa Z, going to the annual Pow-wow in Salamanca, eating brunch, spending time with my friend’s kids who are also visiting their grandparents, going to the golf course, helping Grandma Z bake, playing on his new tire swing, and hanging out with his Grandparents.

A big thanks to my parents for spending some time with him over the past eight days.

Check out some more photos of Evan’s time away in the photos section.

Evan in New York (Day 1)

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

This just in from my mother about Evan’s first day in New York with Grandma and Grandpa Z. We will re-unite with Evan next week!

Evan has had a busy day so far today. He woke up at 6 as Grandpa was making coffee, but he went back to bed and slept until 7:30. He was outside immediately in his jammies, calling turkeys and checking everything out. He and Grandpa then went outside after breakfast, but had to wear their bug hats because of all of the little gnats flying around as they were working. They then took a four wheeler ride up to Bill’s house to check things out there. Then he played in the “playground” and was quite proud of himself on how high he could swing this year. He also had to play in the sandbox, too. He came in for a while and did some “chores” for us – made his bed and vacuumed crumbs with the hand vacuum. He ate a good lunch and is now playing with the Fisher Price fire station. Next, he and Grandpa are going to go into town to get the tire for his tire swing and do some other errands.

Diane Hogan and her two grandsons are coming up at 5:30 to cook hotdogs and s’mores.

By the way, when we move to another house, he is going to come here to live!!!

We are all having a good time and thought you would like to see a couple pictures.

Grandma and Grandpa Z’s Spring Visit

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Grandma and Grandpa Z came for a visit around the twins’ birthday so they could be there for the actual birthday and the birthday party. As always, the kids loved having them here and everyone had a blast.

Evan really enjoyed going to the bookstore with Grandma and Grandpa. Cora loved the doll bed that they brought for her (my doll bed that I had as a child). Will loved the stools that Papa made them (Grandma and Grandpa delivered them) as well as snuggling with Grandma.

Evan also enjoyed Grandma and Grandpa going to school with him and – as he told the teacher – tickling Grandpa’s mustache. (He calls him mustache guy).

Thanks for visiting and helping with the party! You can see more visit pictures by going to the photos section.

Happy 2nd Birthday Cora and Will!

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Hard to believe Cora and Will are now two years old. For their birthday we had a jam packed day but finished it off with Lou Malnoti’s pizza followed by Portillo’s chocolate cake. (Talk about a Chicago birthday!) Cora and Will had a great time with their Grandma and Grandpa Z as well on their big day. A big thanks for the cards/calls!

Trip to Florida

We went to Florida the week before Christmas so Evan could experience Christmas morning/day here at his house. He always enjoys traveling and much like his Mama – loves the airport. On the way down the flight captain even let Evan go into the cockpit, look around, and ask questions. They even let him say something over the intercom.

We all had a great time and Evan was excited to see everyone, play outside, and even sit in a big tractor trailer rig (neighbor’s). I think with all of that – the most exciting part of the trip for Evan was seeing Cora after being away from her for a few days. As soon as he got out of the car Cora’s eyes lit up and she instantly started screaming in joy. This continued for several minutes after we all got inside.

Trip to Florida

This year we decided to head down to Florida before Christmas so we could still visit with our family around the holidays, but still be back home for the big day. We had a really great time and enjoyed the warmer weather (and the company of course). In addition to seeing their grandparents and great-grandparents, we also saw some cousins as well (Celia just turned one and it was the first time we met her). As you can see from the photo – the rules are a little different at Grandma’s house. For more photos – check out the photos page.

Cora Visits Florida

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

When my mom told me she was coming out for Evan’s birthday party and knowing we would all be flying to Florida 5 days later – I threw out the idea that she could take one of the twins back with her if she wanted for the few days that we would still be here in Chicago. I figured they might enjoy having some one on one time with one of the kids (since Evan stays with them for a few days/week each summer) and that would also help us. She ended up choosing Cora this time around since Cora is easier to maneuver by herself on the plane. Will looks forward to some one on one time later this year!

The plane ride went well and everyone had a blast in Florida. Cora was quite social and enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with her grandparents and great grandparents.

Evans’ Family Reunion 2011

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan had a ball at the family reunion this year. He enjoyed playing with his cousins…especially Hunter. Evan spent a lot of time playing on the swing, in the sandbox, and “helping” his older cousins put up their tents.

Visit to Penn State

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

We met Evan, my grandparents, and my mom at Penn State on our way east. Everyone enjoyed ice cream at the Creamery, staying at the Nittany Lion Inn and seeing all the typical Penn State places – Nittany Lion Shrine, Joe Paterno statue, and good ol’ McLanahans.
