Evan, Aunt Kathy, and I went to IKEA and I have to say – I was a little worried about how he would do because it is such a zoo – but he absolutely loved sitting in the cart and looking at all the stuff and people. He did not cry once and was completely fascinated by the entire trip. Thanks to Kathy for her cart driving skills in a high traffic store.

As most people know, Evan was named after his Great Gaga’s maiden name Evans. Every year (for the last 39 years) that side of the family comes together for a Friday-Sunday reunion which everyone looks forward to all year long. This year was a very special year because Evan got to meet the side of the family he was named after. We had a lower than usual turnout (only 40 some) but everyone loved him and he did a great job with all the people. It was also very special since he got to experience his Great Gaga and his Mom win the highly coveted euchre tournament. I have posted some pictures from the big event so enjoy!

Evan and I had our first trip to the horse races at Arlington Park today. My first bet was a winner (nothing big), but nothing else really came of my “scientific choices”. Evan did pick a horse to win for our friend Sally, but that horse did not place…perhaps Evan needed a little more time to get used to the setting. He did a great job and liked spending time with his friends Sara and her husband Matt, Sally, and Doug. Hopefully we will be ready for another fun day during the big “Arlington Million” in a few weeks.

After arriving back home from our recent trip to New Jersey, I called my mother to let her know we got home safely and proceeded to tell her that I felt another tooth coming in – on the top (of course Amy does not believe me yet about the top tooth, just as she did not believe me about the bottom tooth either for awhile). She then told me that when I was a baby I first got in the tooth Evan got first, then my top tooth – just as Evan is getting now. I thought that was pretty cool how we both “teethed” in the same non-traditional order. Good work Evan!

Evan has enjoyed his time with Grandma and Grandad M. We have spent time with family, at the ocean, and on walks. He did great on the plane and got lots of smiles from the other people. Check out the photos section for the latest photos.
