evan’s first instant message.

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Today, while working, I received my first instant message from Evan. He is over at our friends’ (Doug and Kelly) house for the next few days while Amy is still at school. Since he was out of the office, I am sure he just wanted to check in. A very informal message popped up from him via Kelly’s IM account:

“gthyjkl;l”

followed by a:

“fgfhjijuokl,;.”

I better get back to work before I receive more instructions from the VP that I do not understand. Sound familiar? Crazy upper-management at it again.

Updated Pictures

Amy, Evan, and Jen

Grandad M, Grandma Z and Grandpa Z spent some time with Evan over the last two weeks and here are the pictures to prove it! It is hard to believe he is almost six months old. He now enjoys eating solid foods, sleeping with his blanket from Aunt Julie, baths, and talking. The new photos are available in the photos section.

Evan and Triscuit

Evan has been spending a lot of time lately watching at her sister Triscuit. Whenever we go on walks together, Evan watches Triscuit’s every move…same in the house. Triscuit as well as the cats have been wonderful with Evan. Yesterday Triscuit got really close (as seen in the picture) to Evan and laid down. For all those that know Triscuit, you know she is a pretty hands off dog, so I though this was pretty cute. Just wait until he starts pulling on her!

Evan joined me today on a business trip where I did some work for a client on-site at their office downtown. He was a little tired and confused, but he did a good job at winning everyone over with his good looks and charm. After some good food and a long nap, he is now in my office next to me as I type this post, giving me all kinds of opinions on web development. We are going on another business trip tomorrow and I hopefully he will be prepared. With that said – it is getting close to dinner and then bed time so I will go for now.

I Have Found My Thumb

Posted by: jzelazny | 2 Comments

Evan and his thumbAfter a few months, Evan finally found his thumb. He has never been a fan of pacifiers, but he has been trying to get the hang of sucking his thumb for awhile now. As of this weekend, he even has the “fingers curled around the nose” figured out. I have also posted updated pictures from the last week or so.

first trip downtown.

Evan, Amy, and I drove downtown early Monday morning to our appointment in order to get the co-parent adoption process officially moving. My friends Krista and Sally joined us as we made our way to get Evan served by the sheriff followed by a visit to the courthouse where Amy had to state she was sure she wanted me to be the official “co-parent”. Thankfully she said yes and in a few months, Evan will officially be ours together. He is already a Zelazny…his hands are often clammy like Aunt Julie’s 😉 Thanks for all the support! I have added some new pictures in the photos section. Enjoy!

happy st. patrick’s day

Many thanks to friends and family for making Evan’s first St. Patrick’s Day a fun one. Evan met Amy’s dance instructor as well as had a special visit from his great-god0-mother Rosemary. We also enjoyed a day full of college basketball! In case you are wondering, Evan is cheering for Ohio State (Big Ten) and North Carolina in honor of our good friend Francine.

visit to NJ!

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan had his first plane trip this weekend and he did quite well. He was a little antsy, but who isn’t on a plane. He cried a little, but the people around us did not even hear him. On the way back to Chicago he got into a great position that reminded him of being on the floor – so he was just swatting his arms and kicking his legs. When we were home in NJ – Evan just about met the whole family. Hopefully Nicholas, Uncle Harry and Todd will be available in July when we are at home again. Evan was so happy to meet/see everyone (Aunt Jackie, KT, LN, Jess, and Aunt Kathy) and Jen and I were happy to catchup. We love you all and enjoyed seeing everyone.

Evan has a few special thank yous:
A special thank you to Uncle Mike, Aunt Laurie, Colin, Madison, and Morgan for making it down to NJ – even for a short visit.
Thank you Dad for making your home open for us!
Thank you to Grandma M for the great M&M outfit and holding me (I cannot wait to throw the ball outside with you or take walks to the beach)!
Thank you Uncle Jon for putting the swing together and holding me.

It was also great to see my friends Amy and Holly – Amy have a great time on the trip and Holly good luck with the baby coming soon.

PICTURES COMING SOON!
