First Lost Tooth

Posted by: jzelazny | 1 Comment

Evan lost his first tooth August 24th while at the babysitter’s house. He was quite excited to show everyone. After putting his tooth in his tooth fairy pillow, the tooth fairy brought him a gold dollar coin and a new tooth brush. Evan currently has 2 other loose teeth on the bottom row as well.

Our First Dinner Out

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

When Evan was little – we went out to dinner with him all the time. We had been out to breakfast once or twice as a family – with help with friends, but this is our first official dinner out with all of us. We chose Portillos (a Chicago staple). The kids were good. They love Portillos and really liked having their own container of ketchup.

Evan’s First Penn State Game

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Amy and I were planning on going to the Northwestern game (Penn State was in town) and we went back and forth over taking Evan with us. It was a night game, he did not have a nap, would he be interested, etc? At the last minute he asked us if he could go so I of course could not resist. By Evan’s age – I was already committed to going to Penn State so I thought I would give him the same chance. I did not get any commitment from Evan that he wanted to go to Penn State but overall he had a pretty good time.

With that said, if you ask him what his favorite part of the game was he will tell you it was going home. His second favorite thing was getting to hug the Nittany Lion (pretty lucky guy). He also liked screaming with the other fans, and eating the big hot pretzels (he had 2).

Evan’s Robot

I came home the other day and saw that Amy and Evan were outside drawing on the sidewalk. Evan has been known to make circles and even some rough people sketches from time to time but I was pretty impressed with is robot drawing. Nice work Evan!

Amy’s robot drawing can also be seen below.

First Day of School

Evan had his first day at pre-school today. He has his same teachers as he did last year and he was quite excited to go back. Hard to believe the next time we take this picture he will be going to Kindergarten!

First to Walk

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Second to be born, second to crawl, second to get any teeth, but first to walk. Will took his official first few steps in sequence today multiple times. I am sure his sister will not be too far behind but for now he is quite excited to try walking.

Good job Will!

Birthday Fun

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

img_3840Well – the first year has come and gone. We had a joint birthday party for the twins this year and had a lot of friends and family come and celebrate with us. Although the weather was not always cooperative – we had a great time eating Portillos and Costco cake as well as playing in the back yard with all kinds of fun toys. Check out the photos so you can see the excitement for yourself!
A big thanks to all that came out and joined us for Cora and Will’s first birthday!

First Haircuts

On Saturday we took the kids over to our friend Ginny’s house so the twins could get their first haircuts.

dsc05412 Will stepped up and went first. He was not too sure about the cape but overall did pretty good. He basically just needed some cleaning up with the back of his hair as well as the sides shortened. I used my iPhone to keep him looking in one place without a lot of movement. Thankfully I had an episode of Curious George on there to keep him occupied for a few minutes at a time while Ginny was cutting. Of course we do not have a good after photo – I was lucky to get any photos, but overall he looks less like a baby and more like a little boy. Check out the photos to see more of the haircut experience. A big thanks to Ginny for being patient with Will during his first trim!

dsc05423 Cora went after her little brother so she could first see what this was all about. She was very unsure of it in the beginning but after a few minutes she was ok and got the haircut she desperately needed. Her hair was getting so long it was constantly in her eyes and trying to keep a barrette in her hair while trying to have her and her brother not grab it was too much of challenge for the every day routine. Cora mostly got her “bangs” trimmed and then the side and back evened out a tiny bit so that everything will grow in a bit more even.

Crawling, More Crawling and Other Sweet Things

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Cora is a speed crawler…she flies down the hallway, greets people at the front door, and heads to the bathroom as soon as someone turns the light on. She is amazing with her speed. She also is perfecting the standing and sitting. She tried to walk a little with the walkers and I ordered a little cart for her to push around to perfect her walking soon.

Cora also has started to wave. If you say bye bye or hello she will lift her little tiny hand and wave. It is adorable. She also has started to stay bye bye as well but you have to speak her language to understand. But she does reply to you when you say it to her…amazing.

Will is also crawling now. He is not as fast and vears to the right whenever he does crawl. But he is finally getting around. He can stand and hold itself up but has not perfected the sitting and standing on his own yet. His has also started to clap…pretty sweet. His smile is cutesy even without teeth and strangers love his red hair. I think he could probably not do anything more and people would still love him because of that hair.

Cora on Patrol

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Monday I got a summons to go upstairs to look into the babys’ room by their babysitter. I walked in and saw Cora happily standing up looking around in her crib. She was super proud of herself for getting up in the bed and even took some side steps while holding onto the rail. Needless to say – the crib mattress has now been lowered so she cannot climb out…for a few more months.
