Evan’s First Movie: Toy Story 3

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Last weekend, Evan, Denise, and Susan took Evan to his first movie: Toy Story 3. Evan absolutely loved the first two Toy Story movies and was really excited to the see this in the theatre. He enjoyed the movie, popcorn, and candy. He sat through the entire movie and commented many time about “it is so dark”.

Evan has enjoyed the movie Wall-E (another Disney/Pixar film) several hundred times and it was extremely cute. When the movie started and they showed Cinderella’s castle (representing a Disney movie) he yelled “Wall-E” – as in he thought he was going to see Wall-E. As cool as that would have been – he enjoyed his first movie and looks forward to seeing more.

Fun at the zoo

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

On Sunday Evan, Jen and I went to the Brookfield Zoo with Krista. It was a beautiful day out and we were able to get away and Vickey and Teagen stayed home with the babies for the morning. Evan loves the zoo and loves the animals, so it was a fun time for him and us to be able to spend some quality time with him. Krista was nice enough to meet us there and we had a nice time catching up with her too. Evan loved the bears and giraffes. He also spent some time with the goats, brushing their fur. He had a blast on the carousel before we left – he road on the anteater :).

Check out the pictures from the zoo.

Day Two

Evan's first time holding the babies Today we had a number of visitors – including Evan who got to meet both of his siblings today (he only met Cora yesterday due to Will being a bit cold and needing some heat lamp time). Evan thought the twins were cute but really enjoyed all the exiting things in the hospital room – except for Amy in bed.

We had constant activity in the room between the doctors, nurses, and visitors – it was a busy day. Both twins did a great job meeting everyone and were pretty much sleepy all day.

Check out the photos from the day!

Busy weekend

We are so lucky to have the Rominski family in our lives! This weekend Evan spent a lot of time with Denise and Phillip, which gives us a little break on our end. On Saturday Evan spent the day at the pond store with the Rominski’s picking out some new things for their ponds. Jen and I ran a few errands and just relaxed a little. On Sunday Evan and mommy went to pick up some new coy fish for the Rominski ponds, Evan had a blast and I think Jen enjoyed herself too. I relaxed at home. There is a lot going on at home with baby stuff preparation and we appreciate everything Denise and Phillip are doing to keep Evan’s life a little normal.

Happy Easter

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan had a great Easter this year. The day before Easter we took E to see the Easter Bunny, made some Easter crafts (decorated paper eggs) and enjoyed the rest of the day playing games and relaxing. We ended up taking him to Abt (a huge appliance store) to get his picture taken with the Easter Bunny – as I was not interested at all in going to a mall…especially Woodfield where the parking lot and line for the Easter Bunny would have been out of control. Thank you Abt for making the Santa/Easter Bunny experiences painless!! On Sunday Evan woke up and found that the Easter Bunny left him a basket full of candy and a Buzz Lightyear Bubble gun (blows bubbles).

After we got up and around, we went over to Phil and Ginny’s house for an Easter brunch where the Easter Bunny left Evan something really cool – a Power Wheels John Deere Gator. It has two speeds, reverse, a back that you can fill with stuff and dump, as well as two seats – both with their own cup holders. Yes – I am quite jealous. As soon as Evan saw this – he got really excited and ran to it faster than I have ever seen him run. Within 15 minutes or so he had backing up, steering, and general driving down. He did have his occasional “crash” but as Evan will tell you “accidents happen”.

Evan ended up riding on this for hours and at 4pm when we headed home, Evan passed out in the back of the car…and ended up sleeping until this morning. A big thanks for all the cards/gifts for Evan – he had a blast!

Weekend With the Boys

Last weekend Evan spent Saturday and Sunday with “his cousins” (the babysitter’s nephews) over at his babysitter’s house. They had a blast playing outside, playing inside, going to Des Plaines for the slot car racing (race track with cars that drive with the connector that goes into the slot on the track – like my Turbo Hoppers but on a much larger scale). Evan even made a rice krispy house and decorated it up with all kinds of candy!

A big thanks to Denise and Phil for giving Evan an exciting weekend!

Grandma Z and Aunt Julie’s Visit

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan posingBoth Aunt Julie and Grandma Z flew in for Evan’s birthday party. Evan enjoyed spending time with both of them and even did some fun non-birthday party stuff like decorating a gingerbread house. Evan let Aunt Julie sleep in his car bed and he had a slumber party with Grandma. He did a good job not kicking and moving all around like he normally does so I was happy about that. The last night Grandma Z was in town, we put Evan back in his own bed and after an hour or so of sleeping, he woke up crying and so Grandma rocked him to sleep on her lap and then we let him sleep one more night with her.

When we dropped Grandma off at the airport, Evan asked if he could go with her back to Florida and that was pretty cute, but instead he got to stay here in the Chicagoland area with us. All in all, it was a good trip. Thanks for traveling – it means a lot!

Evan’s First Day Back to the Babysitters

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

DSC03563 Every year my parents took pictures of me and my sister in front of the front door on our first day to school. I decided to take Evan’s picture his first day back to the babysitters since he does not go to school yet. Of course he refused to pose in front of the door, but decided he would on the wall next to the door. It is hard to believe the summer is over for him and Amy!

Evan’s First Trip to the Zoo

Posted by: jzelazny | 3 Comments

Evan Last weekend, Evan and I met our friend Krista at the Brookfield zoo. This was our first time to the Brookfield zoo ever (not Krista) and we absolutely loved it. Evan was very well behaved the entire time, walked almost the entire way around the zoo, and kept saying “more animals, more animals” as he wanted to see all the animals he possibly could. I think he most enjoyed the sea lions, penguins, and monkeys. Check out the new photos to see more of our zoo fun.

After the zoo, we stopped by our other friends’ house to visit Heather and George. Evan enjoyed seeing his “friends” and slept all the way home.

A big thanks to Krista for the guest passes and spending the day with us!

Early Summer 2009 Photos

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

EvanEvan has had a busy summer and we finally posted some pictures from the last few weeks. Some of the pictures have our friend’s greyhounds in them – Gopher will look familiar, but they got a new greyhound right before we got Colby and her name is Ada. Evan absolutely loved spending time with them and still talks about Gopher and Ada daily. Of course – Evan also loves fountains and Amy has been taking him to a nearby fountain daily and he has loved every second of it – especially when there are other kids there because he LOVES kids. Check out the new photos.
