Happy Independence Day

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan and his flag Evan enjoyed his Independence Day by going to a parade, a BBQ, and watching fireworks (fireworks were actually on the 3rd). He did a great job watching the fireworks and was not frightened by them at all. He liked identifying the different color fireworks and was pretty exhausted about 15 minutes in so we had to leave early. The toughest part was waiting for them to start, but Amy and I took him for walks around the park until the festivities began. Evan absolutely loved the parade because of the massive amounts of candy that was thrown his way and the big and loud fire trucks. He and his friend Emma we quite sugared up and exhausted by the end of the parade (which made for an interesting afternoon) – but we all had a good time!

Philip’s Little Helper

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan loves when little Philip comes over to his mom’s house so when he came over last week to fix the refrigerator, Evan got all excited. Between watching Curious George figure things out and Handy Manny fix things – Evan was eager to learn and help out with the repair needs. A few days later with Philip came over to our house, as soon as Evan saw him, he said “Hub-bub (that is what Evan’s pronunciation of Philip sounds like) come here” and he took him into our kitchen and showed him our refrigerator…as though he was here to fix that. It was pretty cute ;).

Evan’s January/February Pictures

Evan loves cakeEvan has been a busy boy in the last two months. When we have not been running from one place to another, we have been busy at home making homemade pierogis, cookies, and cakes, and popcorn right off the cob. Evan also attended his first Build a Bear birthday party, and hung out with some friends in Evanston, and went to another party in Oak Park…not to mention a sweet Super Bowl party as well! He is a busy boy so check out the latest photos of Evan in action.

Keeping Gloves on a 2 Year Old

Posted by: jzelazny | 1 Comment

Tape Hands How do you keep gloves on a two year old who wants to go outside, but cannot seem to keep his gloves on? Tape. I was joking with our babysitter about how I needed to do something drastic to keep Evan’s gloves on and mentioned next time I took him out I was going to duct tape them on. Today – when I picked Evan up – Denise (E’s babysitter) showed us how she taped his gloves on – and it worked like a charm!

Evan blowing out the candle

Yesterday Evan had his second birthday party. At the party we had lots of good food (thanks to Portillo’s) and a lot of great friends and family. Grandma and Grandpa Z flew in for the big event and a lot of other friends drove in to spend time with Evan at his party. Evan got lots of great gifts and had a blast (especially eating his cake and off of other people’s plates). Thanks to everyone who came! New photos of the big day are available in the photos section.

King Evan

King Evan

Evan is definitely the king of the playground! I went and picked up his new brother (his new dog Colby) over the weekend and since then Colby has found a great spot to lay – on Evan’s unused twin bed. Evan was in his crib last night and Colby decided to sleep in his room with him. The next thing I hear is “Get down, get down”. Colby was on Evan’s unused bed and because Evan hears us often saying “get down” to him, so he decided to tell Colby to get down too. On another note, every morning Evan wakes up saying “Mommy, Mommy, where are you?” quite loudly. It is hilarious 😉

Evan in the Bounce House

On Saturday Evan went to his friend Emma’s 3rd birthday party. They had a big bounce house and Evan spent quite a bit of time in there with his friends jumping and bouncing. Evan also enjoyed spending time playing with Emma’s toys, playing in Emma’s play house, and eating the good food that they served. Check out the photos to see more of Evan at Emma’s birthday party.

Halloween #2

Count Evan

Count Evan

Last year Evan did not go trick or treating, but he did pose with his sister Triscuit out in the back yard. This year Evan ventured out in his vampire costume to get some candy with his friends. He met Amy at her school with Denise and her nephew so Amy’s co-workers could see Evan dressed up. He then went to McDonalds where he met up with Susan so she could see him in his sweet costume. A few hours later I picked him up from Denise’s house and took him and Amy out to our friends who have three boys so they could go trick or treating together.

Evan had a good time, did good with going up to get candy but wanted to eat the candy from the previous house while getting candy at the next house. After the trick or treating with friends we went to a Halloween party where Evan enjoyed chasing a new friend about his age around a table, eating ice, and playing with blocks. Check out more photos of Evan’s Halloween experience!

Trick or Treat

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan had such a good time today – his second Halloween. He came to visit my school this afternoon, which was such a treat to see my little guy during the day and then we had a very busy night. Right after school we headed out to Colleen’s house to trick or treat with Danny, Cullen, Charlie, Ron and Colleen. Evan had a great time, whether running up to the doors for candy or hanging out in the wagon, his new favorite thing, with Charlie. Evan did an awesome job watching the other boys and figuring out what the whole Halloween thing was all about. He got a nice little bucket of candy. Then we were off to the Casparian Halloween party – thanks Angie for the invite. Evan had a good time playing with Angie’s nephew, Gabe. They ran through the doorways, played under the table, and ate ice cubes. Evan had a blast. It was a good Halloween.

Evan’s Sister Triscuit

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

As most people know – Evan lost his first puppy on Wednesday (October 15th). Evan loved Triscuit a lot. He loved taking her for walks, feeding her his table food, playing with her tags, and saying hi and waving to her. Even though Evan could not quite get the name “Triscuit” out – he tried to get the “TR” out and loved when she was around. I am saddened by the fact that Evan will probably not remember Triscuit, but at least we have some good pictures of them together.
