Evan Giving Orders

King Evan

King Evan

Evan is definitely the king of the playground! I went and picked up his new brother (his new dog Colby) over the weekend and since then Colby has found a great spot to lay – on Evan’s unused twin bed. Evan was in his crib last night and Colby decided to sleep in his room with him. The next thing I hear is “Get down, get down”. Colby was on Evan’s unused bed and because Evan hears us often saying “get down” to him, so he decided to tell Colby to get down too. On another note, every morning Evan wakes up saying “Mommy, Mommy, where are you?” quite loudly. It is hilarious 😉

Evan and Amy

Evan and Amy

Amy is famous for doing self portraits of her – with Evan…and here is the latest. I cannot even begin to estimate the number of self portraits we have of Amy and Evan (can it be a self portrait if there is more than you in the picture?) since Evan came home from the hospital. In this picture – check out Evan’s long eyelashes!

Zipper With a Hug

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

We were out raking today and Evan joined us and helped a little – he put about ten leaves into the pile. Jen and E went inside and then I was called in to help because Jen could not get his jacket off because I zippered his jacket wrong. I used one zipper from the outside and one zipper from the inside – it has a fleece liner. Anyway…it was hard to get off – I tried to just pull it over the head with no success. Finally, I got the zipper moving and removed the jacket. Evan then said, “Yeah! You did it!” and I got a hug. So sweet. 🙂

Evan, Do You Want a Dog?

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

While considering whether or not to get a dog, how the dog will feel with a young child in the house, how Evan will feel about another dog, etc – I sat down and asked some questions:
Jen: “Evan do you want a dog?”
Evan: “Nope”
Jen: Thinking about this response I thought maybe he does not understand what I am asking…
Jen: “Evan do you want a puppy?” (thinking he might call all dogs puppies)
Evan: “Nope”
Jen: Hmm..perhaps he is only saying “nope” to everything I say.
Jen: “Evan do you want ice cream?”
Evan: “OK”

Perhaps all kids do not want dogs…but regardless we are going to head up the greyhound rescue kennel on the 22nd to pick a new dog (hopefully one of Triscuit’s siblings that are up for adoption). I hope Evan will accept and love the dog when he gets home.

In need of some ideas?

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

With the fall months quickly passing us by we have been thinking about Evan’s 2nd birthday on December 16th. We know that many of our friends and family will be asking soon about what our little guy wants, so I put together a “Wish List” at www.toysrus.com. Go to the website, choose “Wish List” from the tabs at the top of the page, fill in my name (Amy Muller) and our town and state (Palatine, IL) and then it will find Evan’s wish list. There is some general information (Additional Wish List Information) about other likes and items as well. Of course…visiting and spending time with us is the best present we could ever ask for…so feel free to come out and visit or come over and just say hello and spend a little time with our wonderful little guy!

Evan Around the House

Here are a few pictures taken over the last two weeks of Evan hanging out in the house (also know as the time we do not let him spend with his wagon).

Big Polite Boy!

Yesterday Evan took his first step towards getting potty trained – he actually went to the bathroom in his little potty chair. On another note – on our way home from picking him up at the babysitter’s house, Amy said “Thank you” to Evan for something and he then said “You’re welcome.” We both got a huge kick out of that.

Evan at Lake Michigan

Evan and Amy at Lake Michigan While we were at Evan’s friend’s party last weekend, I decided to take some pictures of Evan and Amy by our wonderful Lake Michigan. Evan is a quick mover and it is hard to catch him in a good position and smiling, but we tried our best! The day was perfect and Evan enjoyed crawling on the big rocks next to the shoreline. Right along the lakeshore in Evanston, there is an awesome park called “Elliot Park” which has a great running/walking path, a great playground, and lots of green space where people come for picnics, parties, and just to get outside. We look forward to going back often next summer and perhaps a few more times this fall.

Mr. Climb on Everything

Posted by: jzelazny | 4 Comments

Evan has decided in the last few days that he needs to climb on anything and everything. On Saturday I looked around the corner into our dining room and I found him laying on top of Triscuit’s elevated food bowls just hanging out. He also loves to climb all over furniture, on his toys, on his sandbox outside, and on anything that looks like a challenge. No more putting the remote or phone on the back couch cushion – he now can get up there in about 3 seconds flat from the floor position. Look out…perhaps he likes the one song in Sound of Music I cannot stand 😉

Where is Evan?

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

The other day I was looking all over the house for Evan (I never trust him when all is quiet) so I began looking everywhere for him. The kitchen and my office were gated off, bathroom doors were both shut, he was not in Amy’s office, and he was not in his room or the livingroom. I then went into my bedroom and I heard some movement so I looked in the closets – no Evan, then I saw a foot sticking out of underneath the bed. Evan had decided to crawl under the bed and hide out. I have to say this was pretty darn cute – until he came out with a big dust bunny. Moral to the story – he continues to keep me on my toes.
