The latest on the whole crew
Evan had his first haircut last weekend. On Saturday we went to a friend who cuts hair in Des Plaines and had her cut Evan’s hair. He loved the cape (or whatever it is called) that he got to wear, especially when he figured out where the velcro was 😉 He was looking and moving all over, but in the end his hair looks great and he have a few locks for the scrapbook. Thanks Ginny for taking time out to cut his hair!
It is funny how I will catch Evan doing some things that are exactly like Amy and myself. Evan and I both double fist vegetables. Everyone knows how much I love broccoli and cauliflower. Evan is very similar to Amy when it comes to wanting to have his feet on someone or something at all times and whenever he eats, he always has to have his feet on my leg. It is pretty darn cute!
Evan’s latest trick is to open up whatever drawers he can. In the bathroom, his bedroom, our bedroom – wherever he can get into. We have had to resort to keeping our bathroom doors closed and have walked into his room after he was in there for awhile with the bottom drawer empty. He is getting pretty good though at putting items back in the drawer – just not very folded…we will work on that.
Evan is a pretty mobile guy – crawling 100mph from one room to another but he every once an awhile he needs to check in with his blanket. 😉 He likes to pull it out of his crib if he is tired and sometimes just takes a pit stop in front of his crib and smells it through the crib bars. This is very interesting to me as I was not a blanket person at all.
Over the past few weeks Evan has really gotten into the “sharing” mode. Whatever he has in his hands (his blanket, food, toys, etc) he now likes to give it to you, then nicely take it back, then give it to you again. This is pretty darn cute…especially the blanket sharing as he loves to smell his blanket and when he gives it to you, he expects you to smell it too. I know a few people who will appreciate that. 😉
Evan got a really cool sled for his birthday and finally got a chance to use it in his front yard this week. He liked the snow, the sled, and the snowball Mommy made for him, but he had a hard time picking it up since his mittens do not have a separate compartment for his thumb. Next year we will build a cool snowman together. Check out the other photos of Evan in the snow.
This year we spent Christmas at Aunt Julie’s house and had a really good time with the Zelazny family. We have posted pictures from this year’s Christmas so check them out. Fortunately, Santa knew where Evan was staying over Christmas and even came a day early with toys and presents. Thanks to all who made it a great Christmas!
Evan had a fun and busy day on his first birthday. His Grandma Z was in town to help celebrate and about thirty or so other friends came to his party. We got Portillos catered in, along with some of Mrs. R’s famous mostacolli, and some amazing chips and salsa from a neighborhood bar (along with Coca Cola products, beer, and an awesome cake from Costco). I have posted some pictures from the big day – he was exhausted (and missed his morning nap), but he made it through the whole day without any meltdowns until after he went to sleep.
It is hard to believe Evan is one years old today – but today he celebrated his first birthday with family and a lot of friends. Thanks to everyone who made it a special day by calling or coming to the party! Pictures to come soon!
