The latest on the whole crew
Every week Amy takes the twins to their “class” where they get to sing, play, and have fun with other kids their age.
We decided to take some photos of Cora and Will in action around the house to show some of their daily activities for anyone who does not get to see them on a daily basis. They are two busy little kids always on the move eating, playing, seeing what Evan is up to, and then moving on to something else. Some of their favorite actives can be seen in these new photos including standing on the stool Papa made for Evan, playing with the dog food, and playing with their big brother. Make sure to check out the latest photos.
I listen to a lot of music now that I did when I was younger – including 1990s dance music and Beastie Boys. The other day Amy was getting Evan in her car and he told her about the “I got the power – I will attack and you don’t want that” dance song. (The song is harmless) It was pretty cool to see he is actually listening to the lyrics, enough so to repeat them.
We also were in the car the other day listening to old school Beastie Boys and when it got to the lyrics “You got to fight for your right to party” Evan started singing “You got to find your way to the party”. That was super cute!
Needless to say Evan is constantly observing everything so we have officially moved into the “be careful what you say” stage.
The past week or so I have definitely seen a change in Evan’s relationship with his brother. He plays with him more, interacts with him more and seems to generally appreciate him more. Evan, up until now, has been quite attached to Cora but not so much with Will so it is nice to see this bind growing.
Not that you will get the full idea from just this explanation, but it is so cute I have to share. Will and Cora both have these little actions that they do randomly that are so cute.
Will flutters his eye lids, it is so funny. It may have started as an accident or involuntary but now we do it back and forth to each other. It is adorable and funny because I too have a tendency to flutter my eye lashes when I roll my eyes. Jen loves it ;).
Cora makes this weird breathing motion/noise with her mouth. Sometimes her lips are pursed like a fish and other times her mouth is wide open and she breathes really fast and loud. We do that back and forth to each other too. So funny.
I decided that it was time to start gardening so Evan could learn about plants as well as being able to go out before dinner and picking some of his favorite foods (he absolutely loves fruits and vegetables). I wanted him to help with the digging/planting/etc so of course – you can see the sort of help he provided in the photo. I had a mixture of sand and soil and asked him to simply flatten out some of the big balls of dirt/sand. In his mind – he thought the steamroller was the tool of choice so he was rolling around on everything to flatten everything out. Let’s hope his method works! (I went back and loosened everything up)
If you knew me in the 1990s – you knew I was obsessed with the movies Terminator and Terminator 2. I brought T2 posters to college and those were what I was hanging up as I met my roommate for the first time. When Evan turned 4 I decided to let him watch the first 5 minutes of Terminator 2 and nothing beyond that. Since then, we often play “Terminator” which usually results in me scaring him while making Terminator noises. Yesterday I found an iPhone app which can take a headshot of a person and turn it into a Terminator looking person.
I took the photo, then showed Evan. He was half intrigued and half scared as he told me:
“I have never seen the laser in my eye before”
He promptly looked in the mirror and started pressing on his face and looking into his eye. I cannot wait until he is old enough to actually watch the Terminator (minus Terminator 3) movies. I know he will be scared to death but also love them!
Today we went to Denise’s mother-in-law’s wake. We are sorry for their loss but had to laugh at Evan’s comment to Josh when we got there. Of course everyone is in suits and nice outfits. Evan so politely said to Josh,
“I am sorry for your loss and why are you wearing that costume?” – in reference to his suit.
It was a nice change to the somber moment.
Also, today on the way home from school, I took a half day and actually got to pick up evan – he had another good comment. He was explaining his plans for the afternoon –
“you know…Mac and cheese, go outside to take a walk with Denise and the babies, come home and nap and then play batman.”
He then passed his ideas to me and told me to put them in my brain so I could have the same thoughts.
So many good things happening.
