Self Portraits

Evan and Amy

Evan and Amy

Amy is famous for doing self portraits of her – with Evan…and here is the latest. I cannot even begin to estimate the number of self portraits we have of Amy and Evan (can it be a self portrait if there is more than you in the picture?) since Evan came home from the hospital. In this picture – check out Evan’s long eyelashes!

A New Skill

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

On Friday evening, while I was at my first recipe party, I got three phone calls from Jen. When I called her back she informed me that Evan had learned a new skill. He climbed out of his crib three times that night. I was not surprised since he is growing so tall so quickly, I was more concerned about the following bedtimes. Saturday night – no problem. We stayed up a little later and E went down without a fuss, but last night was not so easy. I put E down, again a little later than usual, but about 10 minutes later when I was in the shower I heard little feet running all over the house. We watched cartoons for a little while and I tried again, with no success. E was up until 9:15, when he finally began to fall asleep watching cartoons in our bed.
He actually is very good at the skill. He can climb out of the crib without making too much noise at all, he usually gets onto his truck that plays two nursery rhymes – really loud and then exits his room and shuts the door behind him.
Every day is a new day. Hopefully we can figure this one out quickly. 🙂

Zipper With a Hug

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

We were out raking today and Evan joined us and helped a little – he put about ten leaves into the pile. Jen and E went inside and then I was called in to help because Jen could not get his jacket off because I zippered his jacket wrong. I used one zipper from the outside and one zipper from the inside – it has a fleece liner. Anyway…it was hard to get off – I tried to just pull it over the head with no success. Finally, I got the zipper moving and removed the jacket. Evan then said, “Yeah! You did it!” and I got a hug. So sweet. 🙂

Evan, Do You Want a Dog?

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

While considering whether or not to get a dog, how the dog will feel with a young child in the house, how Evan will feel about another dog, etc – I sat down and asked some questions:
Jen: “Evan do you want a dog?”
Evan: “Nope”
Jen: Thinking about this response I thought maybe he does not understand what I am asking…
Jen: “Evan do you want a puppy?” (thinking he might call all dogs puppies)
Evan: “Nope”
Jen: Hmm..perhaps he is only saying “nope” to everything I say.
Jen: “Evan do you want ice cream?”
Evan: “OK”

Perhaps all kids do not want dogs…but regardless we are going to head up the greyhound rescue kennel on the 22nd to pick a new dog (hopefully one of Triscuit’s siblings that are up for adoption). I hope Evan will accept and love the dog when he gets home.

In need of some ideas?

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

With the fall months quickly passing us by we have been thinking about Evan’s 2nd birthday on December 16th. We know that many of our friends and family will be asking soon about what our little guy wants, so I put together a “Wish List” at www.toysrus.com. Go to the website, choose “Wish List” from the tabs at the top of the page, fill in my name (Amy Muller) and our town and state (Palatine, IL) and then it will find Evan’s wish list. There is some general information (Additional Wish List Information) about other likes and items as well. Of course…visiting and spending time with us is the best present we could ever ask for…so feel free to come out and visit or come over and just say hello and spend a little time with our wonderful little guy!

Evan in the Bounce House

Evan in the Bounce House

On Saturday Evan went to his friend Emma’s 3rd birthday party. They had a big bounce house and Evan spent quite a bit of time in there with his friends jumping and bouncing. Evan also enjoyed spending time playing with Emma’s toys, playing in Emma’s play house, and eating the good food that they served. Check out the photos to see more of Evan at Emma’s birthday party.

Halloween #2

Count Evan

Count Evan

Last year Evan did not go trick or treating, but he did pose with his sister Triscuit out in the back yard. This year Evan ventured out in his vampire costume to get some candy with his friends. He met Amy at her school with Denise and her nephew so Amy’s co-workers could see Evan dressed up. He then went to McDonalds where he met up with Susan so she could see him in his sweet costume. A few hours later I picked him up from Denise’s house and took him and Amy out to our friends who have three boys so they could go trick or treating together.

Evan had a good time, did good with going up to get candy but wanted to eat the candy from the previous house while getting candy at the next house. After the trick or treating with friends we went to a Halloween party where Evan enjoyed chasing a new friend about his age around a table, eating ice, and playing with blocks. Check out more photos of Evan’s Halloween experience!

Here are a few pictures taken over the last two weeks of Evan hanging out in the house (also know as the time we do not let him spend with his wagon).

Trick or Treat

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan had such a good time today – his second Halloween. He came to visit my school this afternoon, which was such a treat to see my little guy during the day and then we had a very busy night. Right after school we headed out to Colleen’s house to trick or treat with Danny, Cullen, Charlie, Ron and Colleen. Evan had a great time, whether running up to the doors for candy or hanging out in the wagon, his new favorite thing, with Charlie. Evan did an awesome job watching the other boys and figuring out what the whole Halloween thing was all about. He got a nice little bucket of candy. Then we were off to the Casparian Halloween party – thanks Angie for the invite. Evan had a good time playing with Angie’s nephew, Gabe. They ran through the doorways, played under the table, and ate ice cubes. Evan had a blast. It was a good Halloween.
