Evan at Whole Foods

After a few exhausting days trying to get caught up from our trip to New Jersey, we have posted some pictures taken over the last two weeks. The past few weeks have been filled with lots of big and small trips. It is nice being able to get out of the house – finally – since the weather had improved. We look forward to the summer and spending lots of time with Evan in the back yard and on walks with her sister Triscuit. Enjoy!

visit to NJ!

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan had his first plane trip this weekend and he did quite well. He was a little antsy, but who isn’t on a plane. He cried a little, but the people around us did not even hear him. On the way back to Chicago he got into a great position that reminded him of being on the floor – so he was just swatting his arms and kicking his legs. When we were home in NJ – Evan just about met the whole family. Hopefully Nicholas, Uncle Harry and Todd will be available in July when we are at home again. Evan was so happy to meet/see everyone (Aunt Jackie, KT, LN, Jess, and Aunt Kathy) and Jen and I were happy to catchup. We love you all and enjoyed seeing everyone.

Evan has a few special thank yous:
A special thank you to Uncle Mike, Aunt Laurie, Colin, Madison, and Morgan for making it down to NJ – even for a short visit.
Thank you Dad for making your home open for us!
Thank you to Grandma M for the great M&M outfit and holding me (I cannot wait to throw the ball outside with you or take walks to the beach)!
Thank you Uncle Jon for putting the swing together and holding me.

It was also great to see my friends Amy and Holly – Amy have a great time on the trip and Holly good luck with the baby coming soon.

PICTURES COMING SOON!

first b-ball game.

Evan went to his first basketball game today – I know Uncle Mike would be proud. I made sure Evan was dressed appropriately, in his little Bulls warmup outfit – of course, he was not at a Bulls game though – he was at his first Attea Flyers game. He was so wonderful the whole time – sitting patiently in my lap watching all the madness around him. The noise did not seem to bother him and he found the shinning pom-poms the cheerleaders held quite exciting. He then met 112 middle school kids, who thought he was just adorable (well the girls did). I am so proud of him!

shopping spree!

Posted by: jzelazny | 2 Comments

We went on our first shopping spree this past weekend and it went over much better than the Tiffany experience. Evan is growing so quickly that we had to go out to buy some new clothes and boy we had fun. We planned the outing right after lunch, so Evan was content the whole trip. We hit Target first and bought a few really cute outfits (Bulls and Blackhawk warmups) and then went to The Child’s Place (thanks to Uncle Jon for the gift card) and we bought a bunch. So many cute little shirts and pants – Evan will be the cutest kid on the block.

Evan Smiling

Amy and I have been busy trying to capture some new photos and we finally posted them in the photos section. If you have not done so already – check out the new photos. He is smiling more and more everyday. On Saturday when I went to get him in the morning from his crib – as soon as he saw me – he got a big smile on his face…a very special moment!

Evan’s First Old Orchard Experience

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Well, today we decided we would take Evan to his first North Shore shopping experience at Old Orchard. First up: Tiffany & Company. Amy did her browsing online before we left so that we could go in and out as quickly as possible, but Evan was not happy. His first Tiffany’s experience was not a pleasant one at all. My guess is he was upset because no one got him the silver rattle. There is still time! We tried a few other stores but he was not a happy camper so we left Old Orchard and drove home. I told Amy, at the very least we would have a good story about his first Tiffany’s experience to tell his fiance/wife (if he wants to get married).

“the doctor said I am perfect”

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

We went to the doctors office today for Evan’s two month appointment and of course the doctor said he is perfect. He is now 12lb 14oz and is 24 inches long. Jen likes to say that he is two feet and almost half way to Aunt Julie’s height :). He was fabulous at the doctors and only got upset when the nurses gave him his three shots. He was crying so hard the nurse had to tell him to breathe before she injected the third shot. Funny thing – there have been times when I have cried so hard that Jen has told me to breathe – like moma like son.
Evan got over the shots pretty quick and when we got home we all took a family walk together – Jen, Triscuit, Evan and myself – the cats chose to stay home. It was beautiful out and great to get out together. He did get a little fussy around 3:30 and we gave him a little Tylenol (as the doctor suggested it) and he felt a little better – it was so sad to see him so sad. We gave him his bath, dinner and he is soundly sleeping now :).

Two Months Old

Posted by: jzelazny | 3 Comments

It is hard to believe that two months have already gone by since Evan was born. Personally, I have enjoyed every minute of the last two months and am excited for many more. Evan is absolutely wonderful and a joy to spend time with – even when he starts to cry loudly when I try and watch Guiding Light (or anything else I TiVo). He is sleeping through the night, eating well, smiling, enjoying baths, and playing with his toys.
