Penn Staters
We had someone come over to take some pictures of the kids all dressed up in their Penn State gear. Check out the photos to see the kids in action.
Penn State Evan
For Halloween we decided to have Cora dress up as a Penn State cheerleader while Will was the Nittany Lion mascot. Since we had two of the three kids in Penn State gear we decided to put Evan’s Penn State jersey on him and have a photographer come in and take some shots. These are just a few of the Evan outtakes.
Evan’s First Penn State Game
Amy and I were planning on going to the Northwestern game (Penn State was in town) and we went back and forth over taking Evan with us. It was a night game, he did not have a nap, would he be interested, etc? At the last minute he asked us if he could go so I of course could not resist. By Evan’s age – I was already committed to going to Penn State so I thought I would give him the same chance. I did not get any commitment from Evan that he wanted to go to Penn State but overall he had a pretty good time.
With that said, if you ask him what his favorite part of the game was he will tell you it was going home. His second favorite thing was getting to hug the Nittany Lion (pretty lucky guy). He also liked screaming with the other fans, and eating the big hot pretzels (he had 2).
Visit to Penn State
We met Evan, my grandparents, and my mom at Penn State on our way east. Everyone enjoyed ice cream at the Creamery, staying at the Nittany Lion Inn and seeing all the typical Penn State places – Nittany Lion Shrine, Joe Paterno statue, and good ol’ McLanahans.
Evan’s First Penn State Game
We took Evan to the Penn State Blue and White game last weekend so he could experience a Penn State game while Joe Paterno was still coaching. I went to my first Penn State game at age 3 and never thought of going anywhere else to college after experiencing Penn State. I cannot say the same about Evan, but I know he had a good time. He got to meet some of our friends from Penn State (Amy, Casey, and our friend Emily’s son Colin.)
Before the Penn State game, we flew into Buffalo so we could spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Z. Evan enjoyed playing outside on the ATV, in the sandbox, in the fort that his great-grandfather (Papa) built for him, and walking around in gravel while experiencing hills (all our terrain here in Chicago is very flat). Inside – he enjoyed playing with Play Doh for the first time, sitting at the little table and chairs, and running around the house.
All and all it was a great trip and we look forward to more fun visits. Check out the photos section for some pictures from the trip!
Evan on the Trip to PSU
Here is a quick interview with Evan as he remembers and talks about his first trip to Penn State.
Flying, Driving, Visiting, Site Seeing in PA
We all enjoyed our trip to Penn State over the weekend! We had a busy few days meeting with old professors, walking around campus, showing Evan all the sites where we hung out and we even saw Joe Paterno only a few feet away! We flew into Pittsburgh then drove over to State College. Evan is very happy to be back home, but enjoyed the trip. He got lots of new clothes and a sweet Nittany Lion toy that he knows his friend Sallie will love! I have posted new photos in the photos section.
First Trip to Penn State!
We are all preparing for a big trip to Penn State in the next few days and are excited to take him to PSU for the first time. We will be taking lots walks and showing Evan the much loved spots around campus. I can almost guarantee Evan will be hooked on the Creamery ice cream! We are also hoping to meet up with some of Amy’s family. Stay tuned for some pictures!
