Evan, Do You Want a Dog?

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

While considering whether or not to get a dog, how the dog will feel with a young child in the house, how Evan will feel about another dog, etc – I sat down and asked some questions:
Jen: “Evan do you want a dog?”
Evan: “Nope”
Jen: Thinking about this response I thought maybe he does not understand what I am asking…
Jen: “Evan do you want a puppy?” (thinking he might call all dogs puppies)
Evan: “Nope”
Jen: Hmm..perhaps he is only saying “nope” to everything I say.
Jen: “Evan do you want ice cream?”
Evan: “OK”

Perhaps all kids do not want dogs…but regardless we are going to head up the greyhound rescue kennel on the 22nd to pick a new dog (hopefully one of Triscuit’s siblings that are up for adoption). I hope Evan will accept and love the dog when he gets home.

Evan’s Sister Triscuit

As most people know – Evan lost his first puppy on Wednesday (October 15th). Evan loved Triscuit a lot. He loved taking her for walks, feeding her his table food, playing with her tags, and saying hi and waving to her. Even though Evan could not quite get the name “Triscuit” out – he tried to get the “TR” out and loved when she was around. I am saddened by the fact that Evan will probably not remember Triscuit, but at least we have some good pictures of them together.

Evan’s New Friend

Evan and Sophie We all went to our friends’ lake house for the 4th of July and Evan ended up making a new friend with Doug and Kelly’s cute puppy Sophie. Evan chases Sophie, Sophie chases Evan. Check out the new photos (courtesy of Kelly) taken during the 4th of July weekend and Evan’s stay with Doug and Kelly a week ago. You will also note I switched the order of the photos so you view the latest at the top as expected. 😉 You are welcome Amy.

Triscuit and Evan

Now that Evan is walking more and more, he has found that he can now pull himself up using Triscuit. Triscuit has been really patient with him (I think it is because he constantly feeds her) and Evan has learned to “pet her gently”. I keep telling Triscuit to be patient because I know in a few years Evan will take her for walks and play with her in the backyard!

wow, he looks like Jen!

It is unbelievable how many people say Evan looks like me (Jen). I went to the vet this weekend with Salsa and Triscuit and our vet asked to see some pictures of Evan (we have been going to her for almost 9 years) so I showed her the Halloween pictures in his costume. She kept telling me how much she thought he looked like me. This is not uncommon at all – anytime we are all together people say he has Amy’s eyes, but my general look. I guess we picked well!

A few weeks ago, we went to a Greyhound event with some of our two legged and four legged friends. They just sent us some pictures and I chose two to share – one of Evan and one of Triscuit. Evan had a good time watching all the dogs and needless to say, by the end of the day, he was exhausted.

Yoda and the Racer

Halloween

Evan and Triscuit both tried on their Halloween costumes yesterday so we could snap a few pictures. Of course, Yoda was more interested in eating the pumpkin stem than trying to train Triscuit to use the light saber, but at least Triscuit ran a few laps to show off her “racer” costume. Check out the new photos!

Evan and Triscuit

Last night Evan decided to crawl over into Triscuit’s bed – which is not very unusual, but what was unusual was that Triscuit, seeing him in the bed, decided to go over and lay in it with him. Evan sat up and enjoyed some cat toys while sitting close to her sister. No growls, fur pulling, or anything crazy – which is what we have been looking forward to for the last few mobile months.
