Christmas – A Month Later

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

It has been a while since our last update….lots going on. So just a few notes. We spent Christmas in Florida with Jen’s parents and grandparents. I was pretty frustrated because I was in Florida and the temperature was only in the 50s, but it was nice to see family and I know that Gaga and Papa were very excited to see all the kids.

Evan had fun, constantly opening presents. Will enjoyed eating all the tissue paper he could get his hands on. Cora was excited just to play and scream (thankfully this screaming habit has passed). Jen was busy becoming an expert with the Fushigi ball. I got to take a few walks and even saw an armadillo.

The sun was shining bright some of the time and we went out to an awesome park nearby. Evan had so much fun on the seesaw and the giant sandbox – what could be better?

Of course there were a lot of golf cart rides as well with Papa. Thank you to Vickey and Phil for everything.

Evan’s 4th Birthday Party!

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

img_2578Evan and all his friends had quite an exciting birthday party last week. We had the Traveling World of Reptiles come and give a fun filled hour + presentation on reptiles. We had a 150lb python, a tortoise, crocodile, lizards, etc in our home as Dave talked to everyone about the reptile’s natural habitats, the dangers of having them as pets, and how to interact with them.

Overall – I think everyone of all ages enjoyed the show and were pleasantly surprised how much fun it was. After the show, we all enjoyed Portillos and Costo cake.

Here are some pictures from the big event. A big thanks to all those that came out for the celebration.

Christmas List Started

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Over the last few weeks Evan has been identifying who his best friend is…it changes by the day. Although, crazy enough, “air bag” stays on the list….I do not get it….anyway….tonight his best friend was Santa Claus. He said that he wants Santa Claus to come and bring lots of presents. So far on his list…

1. Pillow pet – the bee….jen is not happy about this selection
2. A yellow airplane with a remote

It is so funny to hear what he has to say. Always makes you smile…no matter how many times he was in time out the hour before.

Happy Independence Day!

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Yesterday we all celebrated Independence Day. Some of us had BBQ, others enjoyed a hot day outside…and the twins enjoyed their first night in their own cribs. I thought it would be only fitting to have their first night apart be on Independence Day and they did great. Cora finally slept on some pink sheets and Will did not have to worry about his sister crying in his ear when she got hungry. It is a bit odd to have them apart, but after seeing how big they are getting – I thought it was time.

They are getting so big in fact that we have to take out the extras in the pack and play (stuffed animals, extra burp cloths, etc so they can both fit in there.

Here’s to a memorable Independence Day!

Happy Easter

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan had a great Easter this year. The day before Easter we took E to see the Easter Bunny, made some Easter crafts (decorated paper eggs) and enjoyed the rest of the day playing games and relaxing. We ended up taking him to Abt (a huge appliance store) to get his picture taken with the Easter Bunny – as I was not interested at all in going to a mall…especially Woodfield where the parking lot and line for the Easter Bunny would have been out of control. Thank you Abt for making the Santa/Easter Bunny experiences painless!! On Sunday Evan woke up and found that the Easter Bunny left him a basket full of candy and a Buzz Lightyear Bubble gun (blows bubbles).

After we got up and around, we went over to Phil and Ginny’s house for an Easter brunch where the Easter Bunny left Evan something really cool – a Power Wheels John Deere Gator. It has two speeds, reverse, a back that you can fill with stuff and dump, as well as two seats – both with their own cup holders. Yes – I am quite jealous. As soon as Evan saw this – he got really excited and ran to it faster than I have ever seen him run. Within 15 minutes or so he had backing up, steering, and general driving down. He did have his occasional “crash” but as Evan will tell you “accidents happen”.

Evan ended up riding on this for hours and at 4pm when we headed home, Evan passed out in the back of the car…and ended up sleeping until this morning. A big thanks for all the cards/gifts for Evan – he had a blast!

Here are some random images from my iPhone taken over the last month or so.

The images are from the recent trip to NJ (including a Harley ride in the airport), as well as Evan’s first snowman we made together in the front yard.

Grandma Z and Aunt Julie’s Visit

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan posingBoth Aunt Julie and Grandma Z flew in for Evan’s birthday party. Evan enjoyed spending time with both of them and even did some fun non-birthday party stuff like decorating a gingerbread house. Evan let Aunt Julie sleep in his car bed and he had a slumber party with Grandma. He did a good job not kicking and moving all around like he normally does so I was happy about that. The last night Grandma Z was in town, we put Evan back in his own bed and after an hour or so of sleeping, he woke up crying and so Grandma rocked him to sleep on her lap and then we let him sleep one more night with her.

When we dropped Grandma off at the airport, Evan asked if he could go with her back to Florida and that was pretty cute, but instead he got to stay here in the Chicagoland area with us. All in all, it was a good trip. Thanks for traveling – it means a lot!

Birthday and Christmas Wish List.

Posted by: jzelazny | 0 Comments

Evan will soon be celebrating his third birthday and we wanted to get a short list of his wishes. He loves looking at toy catalogs, one of his new passions – so we tried to pick out stuff that he seemed to always point out and other things he really enjoys. Of course, you can alway buy something cool that you find in your travels, clothes, or gift cards to Toys R Us work too.
1. Magnadoodle
2. Power Wheels
3. Easel
4. Matchbox cars and other fun matchbox items…he loves anything to do with his cars
5. Kids digital camera – so maybe he will stop taking crazy pictures with ours
6. Periscope
7. Pirate stuff – he like pirates
8. Transformer stuff

Hopefully these ideas will help! Thanks!
